About Julie Jewels Smoot
Sound Alchemist Julie Jewels Smoot creates music and sound experiences that invite listening without demand. Her work is rooted in the belief that sound does not need to instruct, fix, or interpret in order to be meaningful. It can simply arrive, remain what it is, and allow the listener to meet themselves where they are.
Julie holds an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Wake Technical Community College. Her background in applied science informs a grounded, systems-aware approach to sound—one that values observation, patience, and how bodies and environments respond over time rather than through force or urgency.
She holds several certifications in Sound Healing from Medicine of Sound and Bliss Bowls, supporting her understanding of vibration, resonance, and sound as an experiential medium rather than a directive practice.
Julie has completed extensive training in the Nia Technique, attending teacher trainings from White Belt through First Degree Black Belt, as well as Nia Technique Floor play. This movement-based education informs her respect for choice, sensation, and embodied listening—principles that carry through her sound work even when no movement is asked for or required.
Her practice is shaped by lived experience, including long-term engagement with grief, trauma, and nervous system restoration. Rather than using sound to elicit specific outcomes, Julie creates sonic environments that emphasize safety, agency, and spaciousness. Listening is never required to be active or productive. Rest is not treated as a goal, but as a condition that may arise naturally when pressure is removed.
Julie’s music is often described as meant to be searched for and found. She does not position herself as a healer or authority, but as a sound maker who tends space—allowing sound to meet listeners without expectation. Her offerings may include hand pan, gong, field recordings, and ambient compositions, though the philosophy remains the same: sound as presence, not performance.
Public offerings are primarily shared during the Spring and Summer months and are intentionally limited and seasonal. Not all work is visible or scheduled in advance. Julie’s practice honors boundaries, pacing, and the understanding that meaningful listening continues long after the sound ends.

Upcoming Releases: Sound That Continues Beyond the Moment
Several new releases are unfolding in my work, each emerging from a different listening space and season of creation. While the names may differ—JS Worldbridger, Julie Jewels Smoot, and Author Honey Badger—they are not separate identities so much as distinct containers for sound, language, and presence.
These releases are not designed to demand attention or produce a particular outcome. They are offerings meant to be met slowly, discovered when the timing is right, and returned to as often—or as rarely—as the listener chooses.
JS Worldbridger
The work released under JS Worldbridger explores sound as connective tissue—between inner and outer worlds, memory and moment, rest and movement. These pieces often hold a spacious, ambient quality, inviting the listener into extended listening without instruction. The focus here is not on performance, but on continuity: how sound can quietly accompany life rather than interrupt it.
Julie Jewels Smoot
Releases under my own name are closely tied to my personal sound practice and listening philosophy. These works may include handpan, gong, and other acoustic or ambient elements, but always with an emphasis on allowing sound to remain what it is. There is no requirement to relax, visualize, or transform. Listening can be active, passive, or intermittent. The sound does not mind.
Author Honey Badger
Author Honey Badger holds a different kind of offering—one that often sits at the edge of sound and language. This work may include spoken word, narrative, or textured audio environments that explore truth-telling, boundary, and lived experience. It is not polished for comfort, but shaped with care and intention. Like the other releases, it is meant to be found rather than pushed.
On Timing and Release
These upcoming works are being shared in alignment with my seasonal rhythm. Public releases tend to arrive in Spring and Summer, when the work naturally turns outward. There is no fixed release schedule and no expectation to keep up. Sound continues beyond release dates, and listening remains available long after something is first shared.
An Invitation Without Demand
You do not need to prepare yourself for these releases. You do not need to understand them. You are welcome to listen for a few minutes, or to let them pass you by entirely. The work does not require engagement to be complete.
When each release is ready to be shared, it will be named. Until then, the sound continues quietly—doing what it does best.
